Started the day patiently waiting for the teen to wake. Began to pack away the decorations from the holiday now over. Made some phone calls, took care of business, and settled in with a good book for a while. Her waking meant our quest would continue for “the chair” for her room. We headed to yet another thrift sore and this time we found it. Delighted squeals tell me this is the one. Ugly in anyone else’s eyes, she finds the charm. Pay for it, load it up. Out to lunch and then to the eye exam. My 15 year old has her first pair of contacts. More squeals and “What a perfect day!” I enjoy the simple things and I enjoy sharing them with her. Restore at habitat for Humanity brought us two “new” ceiling fans and a dishwasher. Hmmm…scam them installed? Time to learn something new.

I sit here and I ponder how all the events in my life have led me to this moment…trying to choose the words that will begin to paint a picture of who I am and whom I seek….someone with whom to share the laughter and the delight I felt with the squeals…to share the installation and the laughter and the frustration because this electrical thing is all new to me…and the satisfaction in knowing I figured it out and did it anyway. A thousand lyrics run through my head…all the ways love and passion have been described through the years…compassion, strength, gentleness, wit, wisdom all combine to make him my best friend. I know he exists. Patiently waiting is the hard part…..
