`Well, first 5 minutes here for me. Couldn't help but notice that 190 people viewed, and not one person responded. What kind of "community" is that??? Forums are a great way of meeting people, and finding out about them by the things they post. It's another tool... use it people.

`well i dunno - what i tend to find and go through myself -what with having herpes for three years now - is that you kinda become a hermit - or are a bit hestiate in reaching out to people - some of us have been cheated on by people we loved - others have been rejected and judged and so for me i would love to meet a great guy and make some chick friends but well its still kinda hard to make that first step - hopefully with time more people will

`I also think the site is mostly dead. I still plan to stay for now. Not like any of us are paying a subscription. I'm about to start a new thread.

`Yeah, it seems like no one ever checks their profiles anymore. That's odd though, because it sends you email alerts letting you know that someone has contacted you. So apparently no one checks their actual emails either, or they just don't care or no longer have any desire to meet someone else with herpes. I find that really strange. It's extremely hard to find someone else who has it, and finding someone is so much better than having to give 'the talk'. Even if it's just for a one-night stand, I don't see how anyone could turn that down - not to sound like anyone with herpes should be desperate, but it seems like dates with other hsv people are an extreme rarity and should be leapt at when they appear.

`I turn down dating, s-- outside of marriage, alcohol, drugs, stealing, lying (i'm not fully done with the work on the lying, as it's a hard habit to completely irradicate). Of course, i do all of that, thanks to my religion.
Even before i was religious, i was not interested in one night stands.

If you find someone you're compatible with, and they're also compatible with you, and the compatibility is around 40%, and the two of you have the same type of Herpes Simplex - snowjangles, i might even send you a wedding gift at that point, even though i don't know you.

The first barrier that people with HSV have to go through is not knowing the other person. If i know you, i'll be more accepting of what you say/have/etc. If i like you, i'll be far more tolerant and accepting. If i love you, you gave me HIV/AIDS (as an example), you didn't know you had it, we're a really good pair/love/care for one another - I'll live with it, and with you.

That's just an example of people in general, and that's most likely most people. Things usually start with talking, then liking the person, seeing sparks of interest going off and igniting a higher level of interest, etc. Without those things, yea, concerns of getting Herpes outbreaks where you haven't had them before, start to pop in the head, which is normal.

`Everyone on here seems to be waiting for someone else to initiate conversation, or for someone else to "find" them. This might work a whole lot better if more ppl made it a point to both use the forums (i agree, it is a tool), and to message, say, a certain number of the ppl that come up in their matches per day. I know it's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to do, especially w/ the level of vulnerability most of us seem to be feeling, but I think that if more ppl make it a point to make the first move, the happier and less inactive this place could become.

`It's reasons like this that I have remained single and afraid to date. I feel like I am damaged and not wanted for the fact that my ex wife cheated and gave me this. It's not like I can just go hi my name is, I have herpes , I think you're attractive, funnyy and would like to get to know you... Nope. So it is sad that a site dedicated to having a chance is so empty. I live
in an area with about a half million people in a 20 mile radius and if its true that 1 in 5 have herpes that leaves 100,000 people but can't find one.
I am tired of feeling like an outcast. I did nothing wrong, I am a good person, but how can I get past this? Ugh... Frustrated.

`I would love for this to be a real community. I have been initiating contacts in an effort. I am even willing to share in travel expenses to see if someone is the "right one." I have not been successful in the non HSV 2 society - and wish that I could find fellowship and love in a community of H status people. At my age ~ early 40's ~ something 's got to give way. I want love and intimacy. : )

` I too am tired of how little people respond on this site. I agree that its not that easy to just meet someone with this and to ignore a whole group of people on a site that you joined seems a bit silly. The fact is everyone here has to deal with the same thing and to be able to be honest about it is a great thing. Does anyone even check their profiles anymore or even at all?
