Did herpes humble your lifestyle in anyway ? Has it made you better or worse of a person ? Since your diagnosis, have you developed a mental maturity? Has life and your perception of main priorities altered? WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN THE SAME PERSON TODAY IF YOU LIVED WITHOUT HERPES? realistic questions are always the hardest to answer, but the faster we have the answer to these questions, will be the faster we can accept and move forward.....

`For me, I'm constantly changing, choosing paths in life that differ from what I thought due to circumstances. Herpes did change me among other things but I honestly feel, that if it wasn't Herpes, it would have been something else that would have changed me to steer me down the path I'm currently on. Destiny, fate, ultimate purpose...I believe in this.

`Honestly, I feel anyone that sticks around will either accept me or understand me. But I think I found love on here, and I prayed for real love. Maybe this was thw gift I was.given in order.to get my wish.

`It was! I found love on this site. About a week after I posted this, I met someone. Only problem was that he was two states away. So I hopped a plane and landed in his arms at the San Francisco airport. Sooooo glad I did.

`I do think that having this has humbled me even MORE than I was before. In a since it has changed my perspective in knowing that you can not give just anyone the benefit of the doubt. I would love to be in love with someone who is HONEST on EVERY level. I find NOW that the best way to find that is to NOT tell a person what you want, but instead to let the person be themself and then you will see everything there is to see without being blinded by facades. When you tell a person what you like and what you want; it is more likely that he or she will act in that way until the real trueness comes out which is more LATER than sooner. I have a saying that I would rather be hurt by the TRUTH than a lie any day. Needless to say I got the tail end of the saying, but I am taking it all in stride.

`My life is an constant evolution, and H has been a part of that just a tad bit. As far as changing who I am, no, but the people I chose to date yes. I still remain the good man I was raised to be, and continue life as like I did before H. I conduct myself in a manner that reflects my family and friends in the best light possible.

`At first. .. It was a ----ing Nightmare. Friends, I have to admit. I was damned close to suicide.

Prior to H, I was VERY se---lly active. And I had slept with a bigger number of women Then I feel now was immature, or just irresponsible.

It wasn't untill I settle down with relationships that I found that people are dishonest. A woman, I trusted, ----ed me over. Gave me H.

Am I humbled? No. I feel this is a punishment of some sort. I am not the least bit religous, but I feel this is some ----ed up lesson I have to learn. Now, since I cant be dishonest with people, I find that I am losing out of some great people cause of this sh*t. I met a few girls that were perfect for me. But when they brought it up. I couldnt lie and say no. I told the truth and I don't blame them for not staying, cause in the reverse, I am sure I wouldn't have either. Its not fair for my burden to be given to others, espcially if they dont deserve it.

Has it made me a better person? No. I am still the same, except now I have even a HARDER time finding people to "understand" I ----ing HATE this disease, I hate the person who gave it to me. Thats my feelings.

`I feel much the same...hate has consumed me for far too long...regret, time lost, depression. I try hard to get past it. Hate was never a part of my makeup until now. I hope both you and I find some way to move past that!

`I actually contracted it knowingly. That is to say, I was in a committed relationship with a woman I'd known since highschool, a good friend of many years. She was totally honest about her condition, and I went into the relationship knowing that I would probably catch it sooner or later, but I also thought we would get married and stay partners for life. Indeed, that was the plan. Well, we ended up being better friends than lovers, and the relationship fell apart within 18 months (mainly due to long distance), but not before I caught H towards the end of it.

By the time I caught it, the relationship was already going downhill quickly, so pissed as I was, I didn't have anyone to blame but myself. Just really, really disappointed: with her, with me, with love and marriage period. This was the woman I had finally decided to "settle down" with, after years of hard partying and hell raising.

I was a loner before, and I'm a loner again now. I go out on dates once in a while, but they never progress far enough for me to even have to bring up the Forbidden Subject. I have my animals, my friends, my books, and my Triumph, and they keep me reasonably happy most of the time. As for sex, oh well....it was never that big of a deal, LOL.
