`There's nothing wrong with giving or receiving oral S-- with herpes. Especially if both people have it. Just watch out for an active outbreak before you go down on someone.

Hey, doubts always pop up in my mind too, but that's b/c we are human and we care about other people. I kiss and perform oral S-- even though I have HSV1 and HSV2. I just make sure I don't kiss or perform oral S-- when I'm having a break out!!

`IF U HAVE HERPES IF U DONT HAVE AN OUTBREAK UR RISK OF TRANSMITTING IT ARE MUCH LOWER, BUT U CAN STILL SPREAD IT EVEN IF U DONT SO DONT DO IT UNLESS YOUR PARTNER IS OK WITH IT DONT BE A DOUCHE, NOBODY LIEKS A DOUCHE. Be informed about what you got google that s--- :)

`this is a very good question. i take the anti-viral everyday and i know that it decreases the chances of transmission by 50% but can i receive oral and not pass it on? I read that hsv2 is rarely spread to the mouth because it doesnt want to live there. is this true?

the latest I read is you can pass it on even without an outbreak. So to be cool, you have to tell your partner you have it...or like the few of us here...try to find someone who has it already..sigh

`yes you can infect someone even when you do not have an outbreak.
So wear a condom - only if you have informed the person first and they agree to take that risk
secondly herpes can break out anywhere - for some strange reason i get break outs on my fingers before down below as a type of warning system!

`Not receiving oral isn't the end of anyones S-- life. Perhaps i'm able to say this because i never really thought too much of it, even though it was enjoyable.
It's not that interesting actually, and i think i can live without it. If i can actually find someone who i'm compatible with and vise versa, we hit it off in the right direction, etc... Well, now that i think about it, yes, it would bother me that i wont be able to give or receive.
If i think about having blisters on my private part, which will pop, leave an open wound, and damage my genitalia, i'll take a pass on the oral.
I've seen some horrible pictures of oral herpes, and the saddest part is that i can't speak with these people, ask them a lot of questions, gather as much information from them, and then try to find and *nalyze the most possible factors that were in play regarding the massive outbreak in their mouth.
Yes, it's truly bothersome to not be able to get all the necessary information and derive with some facts and a possibility of arrays to deal with it in a calm manner that wont be unsafe.

`See that's kind of a problem for me, because I LOVE going down on a girl. I actually enjoy it more than regular intercourse (although that's still great), and I absolutely have to be able to do it and be able to get really into it (i.e., above and beyond just my tongue), so it kind of worries me that I'll get outbreaks on my lips/face eventually. Honestly though, for me, that's a risk I'm willing to take.

`snowjangles, the outbreaks on the lips isn't actually a problem, since you can most definitely buy a cream and apply it for faster healing. The problem is if you get it on your tongue, then it pops at some point, and you have an open sore on your tongue. People also get outbreaks inside their mouth, which isn't a pleasant experience.

`I still need to get the doctor to confirm this, but I'm fairly certain that I have HSV2 genitally and *rally. The sores showed up at the same time, and my mouth was definitely in contact with his member.
He wasnt having a visible outbreak.
It's true that it can be spread from genitals to mouth or mouth to genitals. And it can be passed at any time. Anti virals reduce the shedding period, but they don't eliminate it.
Nothing's safe, and if she's going to be at risk you have to inform her.
