So a little background, I was diagnosed with HSV about a week ago. I am almost 100% sure I got it from my husband (the only person I have had ANY s----l contact with in between 2-3 years). He has admitted to cheating on me (although only *rally) multiple times. The most recent time he deployed to Japan, got home and we both had a breakout (both our first ever). He admitted to getting oral in Japan and is convinced that isn't how we got it. He thinks I got it from a previous relationship and just didn't know as it lie dormant for 2+ years. I am having a real hard time believing this, esp since when I was pregnant he was in his peak of cheating, so needless to say I was constantly extremely stressed, and I have read stress is a big factor in breakouts.

Long story short, he says I got it from another guy before him, but I have had two complete pap smears since then, and both came up healthy (also both times I asked specifically for a complete STD pap). He says a pap HSV test will not come out positive unless you have a breakout (he got this from when the Dr told me they could only text *rally if you have a breakout there). Is this true? Will a pap HSV test only come out positive if you currently have a genitals breakout? Or will your cervix still be able to tell them without the physical evidence?

Please help he is extremely frustrating lately and will not fully admit it is his fault I got herpes from him. When I am sure it is (esp since he went to a hooker in Japan). He has come up with multiple excuses for how its my fault, like they tested his blood (a generic blood test, not testing for HSV, and he had no idea of it at the time).

So a vaginal test through a pap smear, will it still come out positive even if no breakout is present?

`No because they need the sore to scrape from to collect and test. A pap they test for HPV cervical cancer cells. Blood unless you have symptoms. Even if you are shedding the virus it won't come of in a pap smear.

`I got tested threw my blood. And I came out clean. It was till I finally made it to a doctor with a sore. that I originally thought was a ingrown hair. But I wish you luck in your marriage. with a cheating husband you're going to need it.
