I can't seem to understand why, oh why the majority of folks on here do not have a picture of themselves posted? This site is supposed to be a forum for people to open up completely to my understanding.
It's not all about looks when it comes to contacting a person, but if someone sends you a message showing interest, I don't think it's fair that they see you but you can't see who they are. Then they say "Oh I can email you a pic." No thank you... If you can email a pic, then you can just as easily post one of yourself.
It's hard enough to date, and even harder finding a date/friend with H. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I wouldn't converse with someone who doesn't have one. It's just that having a mysterious person contact you can make things more frustrating. Especially when they pay you a compliment, and you can't give them one in return! LOL
Is it just me???

`I kind of fit into what you are talking about. Even with my photo, I am stil hiding. A picture of my back. It may show off my long hair but what it really does is hide myu face. The worst thing about it is that most people who check me out are men cause they see the long hair and wrongly think i am a woman when i am a guy.
Maybe you work with great people but I commonly intersct with the scum of the Earth. I sure as hell don't want anyone where I work to learn of my status. Having our pic here increases a chance of that happening. Even if the other coworker or customer has H, that does not mean they cannot just make anonymos reports of my status and than point out the site same way. Just print a few copies of a letter and leave them around.

I empathize with you both. However, at some point we have to strive to obtain some level of comfortability. Most importantly, we have to do it for ourselves. We have to do it when it comes time for "the talk" with a significant other or anyone outside of ourselves.
I just thought this site could be a useful tool to grow more comfortable, to express ourselves, become more educated about H, to gain support and confidence. And if persuing someone romantically on this site, then that person should have a pic posted at least. I would think it's unsafe going off this site and onto a more personal one just to send pictures.
I know everyone does not have good intentions. Overall we have to be mindful of everything we post on the www. At the same time, everyone is not a villian. I would really like to think that there are still good people out there; ones who won't waste their time looking on this site to maliciously humilate someone.

`I joined herpes sites about a week or two after I was diagnosed with herpes. I did put my pictures up even though I was quite nervous about it, but I am glad I did. Although I wish I found people that were more comforting to me throughout me that hard time in my life, it did help me get the ball rolling. It just depends how the comfortability of the individual. They can always send a pic through e-mail or phone. :)

`Preciosak,
You are a brave soul, indeed!
No doubt first receiving the news is... there are no words to describe the anquish one can feel. This is where support is most important. If nothing else i hope that the members on this site and others like it find strength in numbers, become more educated, more uplifted, and more empowered!
Take care eeryone!

`I would imagine that some ppl don't post them bc they wouldn't want to go through the embarrassment of someone recognizing them in "real life", and others bc of their jobs. In certain ones, especially the entertainment industry, someone finding out something like this could be devastating to their career. Just a couple educated guesses.
