Hi, I am a new member, but I wanted to just add a bit of encouragement to all of you. I was diagnosed a few years back, and went through what I have read from many posts on this website: thoughts of being alone, feelings of inferiority, and even briefly suicidal daydreams. Like many of you, I question the probability of finding love or ever not living in fear of the next outbreak.
But the truth is around 20% of the US population suffers from what we suffer from, and some estimates put that number closer to 35%. Regardless of the number, we make up a large portion of the population; we are not some slim 1% fringe we judge ourselves as. (yes, presumptuous) We are normal people like everyone else, just different. Not unlike the guy with a peanut allergy, we too have nuances.
And to anyone that is having suicidal thoughts, reconsider the gravity of your condition. We may be considered outcasts to some people , but there are plenty of people who have members of our family in their family.
I don't mean to sound preachy.
